In a cooperative effort by the patient, dentist, and hygienist, your smile maintenance will be our top priority.
Preventing gum disease, otherwise known as periodontal disease, starts at home with good oral hygiene and a balanced diet. It is important to brush and floss two (2) times daily to remove any excess plaque that is built up during the day, simply by the foods you eat. However, it is known that this alone will not be sufficient care to remove the buildup of daily life.
Prevention is continued in the dental office by the efforts of Dr. Lewis and our hygienists, Carol and Carrie, to promote, restore, and maintain your oral health. It is recommended that you visit the hygienist at least twice a year. X-rays and a comprehensive exam are also required by the State to be taken at least once a year. Our hygienist will clean your teeth using special instruments to remove plaque and tartar from above and below the gum line. Your teeth will be polished to remove stains and brighten your smile. They will then floss your teeth and apply fluoride if needed. Dr. Lewis will examine your x-rays and your teeth at each visit, along with an oral cancer screening, to help ensure your long lasting dental health. By these methods, early detection can prevent serious and costly dental problems from occurring. Let Carol and Carrie hand you the key to having a beautiful, aealthy and confident smile.
